CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT:

Objectives: This area of the curriculum aims to enable learners to develop value, attitude, behaviour and personality with emphasis on being thoughtful, practical and adaptable through certain learning activities in Ethics Education, Art Education, Physical Education, Music and Dances, and Scouts. Thus the curriculum is designed to cultivate the following characteristics:

  1. Knowledge and understanding of moral and aesthetics principles as well as ability to take care of physical and mental health.
  2. Competence in analysing, criticising, problem-solving, expressing and working cooperatively.
  3. Self-sacrifice, unity, discipline, frugality, honesty, gratitude, love to work and appreciation of exercises.
  4. Interest in learning and ways of working, creativity and application of knowledge in decision making and problem solving in daily life and work.
  5. Ability to improve oneself toward desirable characteristics and to apply knowledge in solving personality problems and personality development.

Scouts (Grades 5-6)

Description: Conducting troop meeting session, practising according to Scouting procedures and organising the following activities: studying, analysing, planning, implementing activities at activity bases with emphasis on patrol system and concluding results of activities, and closing the session with the following topics:

  1. Third Class Scout (Tenderfoot): Knowledge about the Scouting Movement, the Promise and the Scout Laws, outdoor activities and rules for Scout drill.
  2. Second class Scout: taking care of oneself, helping others, journey to places, Scout skills, hobbies, interests and knowledge about the Promise, the Scout Laws and rules for Scout drill.
  3. First Class Scout: self-dependence, community services, adventures, craftsmanship, and rules for Scout drill.

The objective is to enable learners to gain knowledge and understanding about Scout activities, to behave according to the Promise, the Scout Laws and the mottos; to be lively, well disciplined, economical, honest, patient, devoted and unselfish; to help themselves and others; to be good leaders as well as good followers, to work and live with others, to develop interest and conserve nature and environment.

Note: After participating in the above activities and passing all tests, each learner will receive badges of third class, second class and first class, successively.

These are pictures of Scouts taken during their meeting. The first picture shows a Scout having fun on the ropes, the second picture they are doing a march pass during National Scout Day and the last picture they are practising tying knots. SCOUT UNIFORM:
The boys wear khaki shorts and shirt and in our area they wear a yellow scarf with the badge of our province on the back. On their left shoulder are pinned coloured ribbons showing which patrol they are in. Below are the 2nd class and 1st class badges. On the right shoulder there is the name tag for the school and below that is the number for their Group and Troop. At the bottom are the proficiency badges. On the left shirt pocket are two white stripes for Patrol Leader and one stripe for Assistant Patrol Leader. This is also where the Tenderfoot badge goes. They wear a traditional B-P style hat. The girls wear a green uniform and a green hat. On their left shirt pocket they wear a bronze Nate Nari pin badge. On their left shoulder they have a badge with a flower on it which represents which patrol they are in. Everything else is the same as the boys.
