of the preparation for the 20th WSJ's Infrastructure
Details of the Infrastructure
1. Campsite
- There will be 24 Sub-Camps
- Each Sub-Camp can accommodate
at max. 1,000 Scouts. Total 1,000 x 24 = 24,000 Scouts.
- 6 Sub-Camps will be grouped
into one Village. Total 1,000 x 6 = 6,000 Scouts.
- Each Village of 6,000
Scouts will have their own common area:
- Exchange service booth
(proposed currencies may be limited to Euros and US$)
- Post office booth (stamps,
postcards and long distance calls)
- Washing and drying machine
service booth
- Photo developing booth
- Supermarket hall of (a)
the credit card system zone and (b) the currencies zone for other
products
- Information service of
the village booth (interpreters, general info, in-campus phone
etc.) which will be called "Sawatdee Centre", the use
of three languages will be a must for means of communication
during the Jamboree: Thai, English and French.
- Vending machines for snacks
and drinks
- Telephone booths for both
coins and cards
- Each Village will
- be equipped with basic
facilities: toilets, showers, washing basins, drinking fountains,
trash bins etc.
- have in front of it a
plaque indicating its name, a sign of camp location, a small
garden with green space and a fountain.
- service roads will be
provided at the back of each village for garbage collection,
sanitary service and heavy vehicles.
- be named after an ocean,
a sea, a river, or a canal to highlight the main theme of the
Jamboree "biological diversity".
- have a gathering space
for Scout activities such as stage, meeting spots and workshops.
2. International Service
Team Site
- IST campsite will have
the same facilities as the Scout camps.
- the location of each sub-camp
near the working site as suggested will be carefully studied.
- the IST should not exceed
7,000.
3. Jam Hotel
- Jam Hotel of 1,000-1,2000
will have the same facilities as the Scout camps.
4. Restaurants: two
restaurants will be available
- one of 8,000 seats for
IST and others
- one of 500 seats for World
Scout Committee, World Scout Bureau and heads of Contingents.
5. WOSM Bureau
- a bamboo pavilion
- the bureau will be equipped
with two toilets and a pantry
- the bureau will be provided
with telephone lines, one fax machine and one in-campus phone
6. Contingent Headquarters
and Exhibition Area
- a bamboo pavilion
- a large space for storage
will be provided
- several small booths will
also be available for regional offices
- pigeon holes for correspondences
of WOSM Organisations/Associations and in-campus phone will be
provided
7. Hospital
- temporary hospital with
air-conditioning system will be opened during the Jamboree period
- urgent delivery to the
nearest hospitals will also be available by ambulance and helicopters
- medical doctors and nursers
will be permanently on service during the Jamboree
8. Press Centre
- booths and small offices
will be provided for press and media
- computer rooms
- press conference room
of 100-150 seats equipped with simultaneous interpretation facilities
- one reception counter
and pigeon hole services for correspondences
- the press centre will
be equipped with toilets (male and female)
9. Secretariat Office
- Xerox machines

15. Central Arena
- will be constructed on
slanting land with a view of the gulf in the background
- designed for 35,000 people
- equipped with mobile crescent
seats for guests, VIPs and dignitaries etc. for an easy view

on all sides to facilitate easy access for large audiences
- toilets for staff and
crew members
16. Welcome Arena
- situated right at the
entrance on top of the hill overlooking the gulf
- surrounded with the poles
of WOSM Member Organisations/Associations
- at the end of the arena,
in the middle, there will be three flags:
- Jamboree flag
- Thai flag
- World Scout flag
- huge fountain will be
constructed in front of the three flag poles
- Jamboree Panel "Twentieth

17. Registration Office
- at each entrance of the
Jamboree

tournament at Vajiravudh camp site, directly linked to the site
